At BAR TEN 1869, what goes into our products matters just as much as what comes out of them.

We are particular about our ingredients. We choose oils, butters, waxes, botanical extracts, essential oils, fragrance oils, and other specialty ingredients for their quality, performance, and suitability for a given formulation. Whenever possible, we work with established suppliers in the United States and Canada whose ingredients meet the standards we expect for our products.

For us, quality is about more than a label. An ingredient does not have to be certified organic to be exceptional, and “natural” does not automatically mean better. We look at the ingredient itself—where it comes from, how it is produced, how it performs, and whether it makes sense for the product we are creating.

That same care extends to responsible sourcing. The palm oil used in our soaps, for example, is sustainably sourced. Our plant oils and butters are selected for the qualities they bring to a formula, from jojoba, camellia, and argan oils to rich mango and cocoa butters. Botanical extracts, proteins, clays, salts, and other specialty ingredients are incorporated when they have a genuine purpose—not simply because they look good on a label.

Scent matters, too.

Fragrance is an important part of the BAR TEN experience. We work with both essential oils and high-quality fragrance oils, choosing each according to the product's character and intended use. Some creations call for botanically derived essential oils; others depend on careful selection.
